CORE TRAYS

Core Trays become a choice of the exploration team.

Factors taken into consideration are

  • Plastic versus Steel

  • Weight of a full core tray

  • Health and Safety standards

  • Safe handling

  • Simple assembly

  • Core visibility

  • Core accessibility

  • Contamination free

  • Convenient for export

  • Cost of transport

  • UV stabilized

  • Drainage holes

  • Rackable Stackable

The bulk of core trays used is a one-meter tray

Where these differ is the number of slots, thus  affecting  the weight of a full core tray

Depending on the mine or company HSEQ policies in regard to the safe handling of core trays

For export, the factor to consider is the cost of transport.

For example, a welded or assembled core tray is the same weight of a field-assembled core tray.

The difference is volume.

From a practical perspective, using steel core trays, field assembly would be far more economical.

For plastic core trays, the volume is similar to factory-assembled core trays
